- Focus on one key topic that can be demonstrated in various ways and by different people. Think of your brief theme as a search term you could type into the gettyimages.com search bar. Topics like Family moments, Working from home, Healthy lifestyle work well.
- Go Global or 'Pass as <country>' to get more content variety. The benefit of working with Getty Images is our global reach – allowing you access not only to various locations but also to different types of settings and skills available in our talented community. Our creators are well versed in the markers of regional content and things to avoid in order to create globally or regionally usable content.
- Be flexible with your model preferences. It's ok to zero-in on a key demographic but be mindful that very niche or cross-sectional requirements would be hard to capture with crowdsourcing. Our creators work with real people - their friends, families, and communities. Embrace diversity and realness.
- Focus on accessible scenarios: home and outdoors, with shots featuring 1-3 people. This will broaden the pool of creators who can create your content.
- With suggested activities, leave room for interpretation to benefit from the creativity of our creators. Rather than a rigid shot list, think of the activities you list as guidance to photographers or videographers. Indicate the type of content that could work for you, and our creatives will work within that range and with the people and locations they have access to, to fulfill your brief.
- Balance variety vs specificity in your brief. Make sure your Key Requirements prioritise the content you really need. We encourage you to be open to variety and interpretation too, allowing our community to show their own creative perspective on your suggested scenarios.
- Tell us what you don’t want. Use the section ‘Things to avoid’ to outline anything that would make you reject selecting an image or a clip. Often your Brand guidelines will have recommendations on what to avoid in imagery – use that in the brief.
- If a particular demographic or setting is very important (for example seniors, or office-based scenarios), use a dedicated brief to capture it. This will ensure more variety and choice for you.
- Visual examples are key. They help support your brief requirements and demonstrate to our creators the style of content you prefer. The easiest way is to create a Board of images or video on gettyimages.com. See our tutorial for creating Boards here.
